Cedar is an interactive artwork inspired by Enigma Code breaker Alan Turing. Commissioned by Guildford Borough Council and created in 2011, the installation represents a part of the brain known as Wernickes Area which helps decipher words and understand speech.
Passers-by can interact with the sculpture via mobile phone text messaging to influence the colours of the lighting and communicate coded messages.
